EXTERIOR WATERPROOFER

Weatherwood Exterior Waterproofer is your best choice for all exterior Weatherwood stained projects. Exterior Waterproofer can be applied to raw, reclaimed, barn and Weatherwood stained wood. The Waterproofer actually penetrates into the wood and encapsulates wood fibers and forms a water barrier.  Apply 2, back to back, applications to protect and encapsulate wood for 5-7 years! Exterior Waterproofer can be applied to raw or Weatherwood stained wood.

Use aflood system, spray gun, or brush to drench the wood with Exterior Waterproofer and allow the wood to air dry.

BRUSH APPLICATION

  1. Mix product well. Apply when air temperature is above 40F. Do not apply in rain or before rain. In warm weather, do not apply in direct sunlight.
  2. Apply a generous coat of sealer. Use short strokes and very light pressure. Do not drag the brush on the wood.
  3. Once the wood is covered in topcoat, you can use long even strokes to even it out. Do not wipe it back off.
  4. Apply to all wood surfaces, especially including ends.
  5. Apply in sections when working on a large project. Keeping a wet edge as you work. When first applied, the wood will look darker and wet. (See below.)
  6. Do not apply with  a lot of pressure.
  7. Apply 2 successive coats to ensure wood is completely covered.
  8. In approximately 60 minutes the topcoat should be dry.

SECOND COAT

  1. Apply an additional coat of Exterior Waterproofer. Follow steps above. When dry, wood is ready for install.
  2. Product should be reapplied every 5-7 years. When water stops beading on the wood, it should be reapplied.

FLOOD SYSTEM / DUNKING WOOD APPLICATION

SUBMERGING

  1. If you are using an assembly line, flood system, or vat you can apply Weatherwood Stain's Exterior Waterproofer by submerging wood into the topcoat.
  2. In general, wood should be submerged 5-10 seconds. Apply to all wood surfaces, especially including ends.
  3. Make sure no air bubbles on wood's surface keep wood from receiving exposure to sealer. If equipment is not enabled for this, then use a wet brush to remove bubble and make sure wood gets sealed.
  4. Leaving wood in too long may result in water marks.
  5. No not wipe off. Pull out handling wood by the edges and allow to air dry in racks. Do not stack wet wood on itself.

SECOND COAT

  1. Apply an additional coat of Exterior Waterproofer. Follow steps above. When dry, wood is ready for install.
  2. Product should be reapplied every 5-7 years. When water stops beading on the wood, it should be reapplied.

NOTES: Do not apply OVER Weatherwood Maintenance Oils or traditional stains!Maintenance Oils are an interior product, but if using them with Exterior WaterProofer, you should apply Exterior Waterproofer prior to applying Maintenance Oils. The Exterior WaterProofer must be able to penetrate wood to protect it and Maintenance Oils will seal the wood's surface. Follow the same protocol when using with traditional polymer stains (which we do not sell).Exterior tabletops may require an additional hardshell, exterior protection to protect against food stains.
