TOPCOAT: VARNISH

You've asked for it and we've done it! You'll be happy to know we've added our own line of Weatherwood Varnishes to perfectly hold the look of oxidized wood. Varnishes provide architectural quality wood protection for millwork, cabinetry, and furniture in your home. These finishes are suitable for interior use, including high water and high traffic areas in your home. Our topcoats our specially formulated for three things:

  1. Specially formulated to hold our weathered wood colors!
  2. Architectural quality for the highest degree of protection.
  3. Non-yellowing, water-based formula.

THE DETAILS

Varnish can be applied uses a brush, roller and spray gun. You will absolutely love applying our varnishes with your spray gun, with their excellent flow out and tough film formation.​ You should plan to apply 2-3 coats of Varnish for superior wood protection, especially on high touch and water areas in the home.

All finishes darken slightly. Weatherwood varnish comes in two sheens and the degree of sheen will have some affect the final color. The less sheen you choose, the closer you end project will look like the stained wood.  

​Below is alder stained with Salvage and top-coated with WW Varnish in its different sheens.

  • DEAD FLAT CONVERSION VARNISH

    Weatherwood Dead Flat Pre-Cat Conversion Varnish has zero sheen. This varnish is almost imperceptible on wood and will most closely represent the color of our stained wood.

  • SATIN CONVERSION VARNISH

    Weatherwood Satin Pre-Cat Conversion Varnish has a beautiful light satiny sheen. (Sheen 12%) This varnish will darken the the color of our stained wood about 1 shade.
